If the iTunes Match music on your iPhone or iPad has been deleted by an iOS update or by Apple Music, you may be able to fix it fairly easily.
THE PROBLEM:
After the iOS 8.4.1 update off of my offline music and videos were gone. I re-downloaded 12 GB of music again which took almost 3 days (extremely slow). After all of my music was re-downloaded, I had missing songs in nearly every album. I rebooted my iPhone to discover Apple had tripled everything in my library and instead of just over 12 GB of music, I now had 38.9 GB of music. Deleting all the music again and re-downloading was not an option as 10 songs would take 2 hours to download. Compare that to Google Play which took about 35 seconds to download the same 10 songs.
Here’s how I fixed it.
THE FIX:
1. I clicked “sign out” in iTunes on my Mac. That logged me out of iTunes Match.
2. I turned off “iCloud Music Library” on my iPhone in Settings - Music.
3. I went to Settings - General - Usage - Manage Storage and deleted all of the music on my iPhone.
4. I rebooted the iPhone and the Mac.
5. I synced my iPhone to my Mac over USB (like the old days).
6. Over 2000 songs were transferred to my iPhone over USB in about 20-25 minutes.
7. I rebooted my iPhone again, then turned “iCloud Music Library” ON on my iPhone.
I let the iPhone sit there for several minutes while it renegotiated with Apple’s servers. At first I had missing artwork, but after several minutes things seemed back to normal.
