Blackberry Hits Mexico

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 19, 2003

Mexican wireless carrier Telcel has agreed to sell Research In Motion's BlackBerry devices and software-related services to its subscribers. Telcel will be the first wireless network operator to sell wireless e-mail BlackBerry devices in Mexico.

América Mvil, the holding company for Telcel also owns wireless carriers in other Latin American countries but plans to offer BlackBerrys in Mexico initially, the companies said.

Few details were given as to how many units will be sold and when they will be available in Mexico. In recent months RIM has expanded to Europe and now Latin America. They are clearly plotting a world wide path for their devices.
