It looks like RIM has beat expectations for the last quarter. Research In Motion said this week its revenues were up 45 percent and its loss was reduced by 23 percent. This is great news for a company that has recently been involved in legal battles and strong competition from Good Technology.
The net loss for the three months ending on May 31 was $8.2 million (after a $7.5-million charge related to legal costs in an ongoing patent dispute ). This loss is down from the same period last year when RIM lost $10.7 million.
More good news for RIM? The number of subscribers to the BlackBerry wireless e-mail service rose during the quarter by about 81,000.
The legal battles continue but RIM seems to be holding their own with recent launches around the world. Good Technology recently signed a deal with Dell Computers which shook up the wireless market.
