Over the past couple of years we have heard a lot about NTP, the company that successfully managed to get 450 million dollars from RIM in a patent dispute. The New York Times has an article about NTP and it seems that NTP is a virtual company of sorts. The article describes NTP as a "virtual company" because they do not actually make or sell anything. The article describes them as a company "whose only assets are a series of wireless e-mail patents granted to Thomas J. Campana Jr., the other founder, and whose only business is extracting licensing fees from companies."
NTP, is apparently pursuing additional licenses from companies including Nokia.
