RIM faced another loss on Monday when The Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from the maker of the BlackBerry in the long-running battle with NTP over patents for the email device. The Supreme Court's refusal to hear RIM's appeal means that a trial judge in Richmond, Va., could impose an injunction against the company and block BlackBerry use in the United States.
With some of NTP's patents having recently been ruled invalid, it is anyone's guess where this case will lead. Ultimately, a settlement is likely, but you'll have to stay tuned to find out.
