RIM Find Security Threat in Tiff Files

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - January 05, 2006

According to a member of Phenoelit, a group that identifies security weaknesses in computers, Blackberry users could be vulnerable to attack if they open a TIFF file. Opening certain .tiff files sent through an e-mail could disable your Blackberry's ability to view attachments. Although other Blackberry functions are not affected, this is considered a security threat. RIM is apparently testing a software patch to fix the problem.

In the mean time, Blackberry owners should filter .tiff images until a fix is released.
