How to reset your BlackBerry

How To - By: pdaBlast! Staff - December 08, 2006

How to reset your BlackBerry:

Soft Reset
Press ALT+RIGHT SHIFT(CAP)+DELETE
A soft reset stops all applications and reconnects the BlackBerry to the computer.

{This does not apply to the BlackBerry Pearl.)

Double Soft Reset
A Double-Soft Reset is basically the same as a Hard Reset. First press ALT+RIGHT SHIFT(CAP)+DELETE. The screen will go blank. When the screen is no longer black, press the ALT+RIGHT SHIFT(CAP)+DELETE keys again. You'll get a blank screen again and then an hour glass.

(This does not apply to the BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphone.)

Hard Reset
A Hard Reset is done by removing the battery for 30 seconds, or pressing the reset button if you have one.

For BlackBerry Pearl owners you can wipe your device using the following instructions.

Open the Menu and go to Options >> Security Settings >>General Settings

Open the menu and choose "Wipe Handheld." You will be prompted to type in the word "blackberry" to confirm.
