It looks like the RIM trademark infringement case against Samsung about the BlackJack is over. According to the San Jose Mercury News, Research in Motion Ltd. has reached a settlement with Samsung Electronics Co. over that company's new BlackJack smart phone.
In a statement RIM said that the settlement includes "immediate provisions for the protection of RIM's valuable trademarks." The specific terms of the deal were confidential.
The lawsuit had alleged "unfair competition and trademark dilution" by Samsung in using the name "BlackJack." I guess RIM thought it was a play off the "Blackberry" name. After all, the BlackJack did have a QWERTY keyboard just like the Blackberry. In any case, the suit is over and everyone is moving forward.
