After two days of silence in regards to the Blackberry outage this week, RIM finally released a statement. The statement said the outage was triggered by "the introduction of a new, non-critical system routine" designed to optimize the cache on the computer servers that run the BlackBerry network.
The outage proved just how weak RIM is. If your entire system can be shutdown so easily you've got a lot of work to do. What about redundant systems? Ever heard of those?
