Will Microsoft Buy BlackBerry Maker RIM?

Research In Motion's stock was up around 3 percent because of speculation that Microsoft could be planning to acquire RIM. Why would Microsoft want to own RIM? If the rumors are true, it would be an effort for Microsoft to compete with Google's soon to be released gPhone.

At this point the reports of a buyout are totally unsubstantiated and Microsoft has made no comment regarding such a deal. Analysts are saying however, that a deal makes sense for Microsoft.
