Widespread BlackBerry Trackball Problem?

There appears to be a serious problem with the BlackBerry trackball. Check out this video from TheStreet.com. They are having problems with multiple BlackBerrys on an almost weekly basis. That doesn't sound good.
Gary Krakow, Senior Technology Correspondent for TheStreet.com takes you through the problems he's experiencing with his BlackBerry. The trackball gets to where you can't scroll up and down. He swears they have the problem across multiple devices and that other people are reporting the same problem.

G1?
I like how he mentions the G1 as a competitor in this context. The G1 uses the same exact track ball as the BlackBerry. Six months from now, we'll be hearing the same complaints about the G1 =)...more

Blackberry Trackball Problem
When my trackball does this I take a Q-tip or kleenex with rubbing alcohol or acetone (Fingernail polish remover) and put a little on the trackball and roll it around, This cleans all the dirt and the contacts at the same time and then it works fine ...more
