We reported a few days ago the the government of India was going to ban the BlackBerry in their country because they had no way of intercepting emails that passed through RIM's servers. Now it appears that India's Telecoms Secretary is having a change of heart. Siddhartha Behura, India's Telecoms Secretary told reporters at an industry conference that "There is no question of banning at this point."
Business Week reports "Indian government officials, telecommunications service providers, and executives of RIM earlier met to work out a solution to demands from the Indian government that it should have access to, and the ability to intercept, mails sent over RIM's BlackBerry service, according to a report from India paper Business Standard."
India is requesting the ultimate big brother access to emails and we hope RIM resists those requests.
