Original BlackBerry Storm getting firmware update

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - October 19, 2009

It looks like it's never too late to get a firmware update. On the cusp of the release of the BlackBerry Storm 2, original BlackBerry Storm owners have been second guessing their decision to be early adopters. After being told that WiFi was not necessary because of Verizon's fast EVDO network, then seeing WiFi show up in the BB Storm 2, many early adopters were not pleased.

According to PhoneArena, a Verizon rep claims a firmware update is coming to the BlackBerry Storm that will make the Storm and Storm 2 nearly identical in terms of the software. The Storm will gain flick scrolling, tabbed browsing, and threaded texting.

The differences that will remain between the Storm and Storm 2 will be hardware related. The Storm 2 will have WiFi and a sleaker design. It also has four sensors for the SurePress typing.
