BlackBerry Bold yanked in Japan due to overheating

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 27, 2009

The BlackBerry Bold has had so many problems sine its release and now it's overheating? NTT DoCoMo Inc, Japan's largest mobile phone operator, has halted sales of the BlackBerry Bold because the phone can overheat while the battery is being charged.

DoCoMo has sold about 4,000 BB Bold phones with about 30 reports of overheating. Some users reported getting burned while others said their device caught on fire.

"This issue appears to be specifically limited to the BlackBerry Bold devices sold in Japan since last week and sales of BlackBerry Bold devices in other countries are unaffected by this matter," RIM said in a statement.
