RIM patent application aims to speed web browsing on BlackBerry

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - January 18, 2010

We all know that mobile web browsing leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the speed department. RIM is trying to attack that problem by setting up a proxy server on BlackBerry devices.

RIM has filed a new patent application aimed at speeding up the browsing experience on BlackBerry devices. According to the patent application a proxy server would run locally on the BlackBerry, and would compress web requests and send them to a gateway on the other end. The proxy could also receive compressed data and even cache images etc. All this technical information results in one thing -- faster browsing on the BlackBerry.
