The launch of Research In Motion's BlackBerry Playbook tablet is being pushed back due to poor battery life, according to Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu.
Wu says his sources claim the PlayBook's battery only lasts a few hours which is devastating news for RIM, if true. The iPad battery lasts 10 hours and if RIM wants to compete they'd better get better performance out of the battery. The main issue seems to be that the PlayBook's OS, QNX, was never designed for mobile devices, but was designed for network equipment and automobiles where battery life is not an issue.
Surely RIM has their ducks in a row and won't try to bring the PlayBook to the market before it is ready.
