First India questioned the BlackBerry's security and demanded a backdoor to the devices encryption. Now, The United Arab Emirates is calling BlackBerry devices a potential security risk.
Because the BlackBerry data services take place outside the reach of the local carriers, the UAE telecom regulator says, "BlackBerry operates beyond the jurisdiction of national legislation." and may have "serious social, judicial and national security repercussions".
These countries will have to get on board with technology or they will be left behind. There has been no official word from RIM, but we don't see them giving any backdoors for these countries. For now, the people in the UAE will have to find another device for their email.
