RIM has been working on a 4G LTE BlackBerry for a couple of years now, but it looks like the development has hit a few road blocks and is now delayed until the end of the year.
The rumour on the street is that the costs for the LTE chips is too high for RIM, and that even if they could get the chips at a reasonable price the battery life takes a big hit on 4G.
RIM seems more interested in making sure that people keep using BlackBerrys around the world than chasing a small LTE market. However, if they wait too long the competition will get way out in front of them. Can RIM hang on?
