BlackBerry Super Phone coming?

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - January 07, 2011

RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis gave an interview to PC Magazine at CES in Las Vegas, and confirmed plans for QNX-powered BlackBerry "super phones." Mr. Lazaridis said the BlackBerry maker is skating "not to where the puck is today, but to where the puck is going to be tomorrow."

The BlackBerry Super Phones will be based on dual-core processors that run the QNX OS. They'll be taking a similar approach that Apple has taken where the iPhone looks like a mini iPad, or vice versa. The BlackBerry Super Phones will look like small versions of the PlayBook. The new Super Phones will support three types of apps: Java, Adobe Air and native apps using OpenGL.

These Super Phones will not be out any time soon as they are part of RIM's 10 year plan.
