RIM's new smartphones will run on BlackBerry X platform

News - By: SPBlast! Staff - October 05, 2011

Research in Motion is working hard on a new set of devices that will run on what we've been calling the QNX operating system. In a move that probably makes a lot of sense at this point, RIM will rebrand QNX to BlackBerry X or BBX for short. Crackberry confirmed the news from multiple sources.

We've now confirmed with multiple sources that RIM is set to unveil a new name for their QNX-based BlackBerry platform at BlackBerry DevCon this month. And the name is...BlackBerry X or BBX for short.

The new devices will most likely be shown off at this year's BlackBerry DevCon which takes place in a couple of weeks. Will RIM surprise us and blow us away? Let's hope so. In the wake of Apple's disappointing iPhone event yesterday RIM may have a real opportunity here.
