NTSB recommends banning driver cell phone use in cars

News - By: SPBlast! Staff - December 13, 2011

The NTSB has recommended that all states ban the use of all electronic devices by drivers of cars, except in case of emergency. The recommendation came in response to a deadly pile up in Missouri last year, supposedly caused by a 19 year old drive who received 11 texts in 11 minutes. The ban would even apply to hands free use, and would be more far reaching than current laws.

Texting while driving is a problem that should be addressed, but banning the use of all electronic devices is ridiculous. How many accidents are caused by people eating, shaving, applying makeup, or sleeping while driving? Are we going to ban these too?
