BlackBerry 10 devices coming late 2012

News - By: SPBlast! Staff - December 16, 2011

During the company's third quarter earnings call, Research In Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie confirmed that the next generation BlackBerry 10 devices will not arrive until late in 2012. This is not great news for RIM. The company has already lowered guidance for the fourth quarter, and the co-CEOs are fighting requests by some investors that the company needs new leadership. They are way behind Apple and Android in the smartphone market, and they cannot afford to wait until the end of next year to get something new to market.

Apparently, part of the problem is RIM is waiting for new dual core processors to be available before they can bring the BlackBerry 10 phones to market.

What do you think? Can RIM survive the long wait until BlackBerry 10 devices? In another six months so many Apple and Android phones will be shipped that RIM will be in an even more weakened position. Also, don't forget Microsoft who is coming on strong with Windows Phones.
