India finally banning BlackBerry?

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - March 01, 2011

Is India finally about to ban the BlackBerry from its country. For over a year now India has been threatening to ban the email device because RIM cannot give the government access to encrypted content.

In a story by the Wall Street Journal, the Journal quotes India's federal Hom Secretary Gopal K. Pillai as he insists on access to encrypted data, again.

"It's not a question of their giving access. Under law, they have to give access, everybody has to give access," federal Home Secretary Gopal K. Pillai told reporters. "Whoever gives access will be allowed to operate. Whoever does not give access will not be allowed to operate."

Okay, so let's get on with it already. RIM has said they cannot provide access to encrypted email so either ban them, or be quiet.
