RIM CEO talks native email on the PlayBook, and more

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - April 18, 2011

The BlackBerry PlayBook launches tomorrow, and RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie is talking up the device to the Wall Street Journal.

One of the major criticisms of the PlayBook is the lack of native email support and Mr. Balsillie tries to explain RIM's position on native email. According to Mr. Balsillie, users won't really need native email because the PlayBook has a full web browser for webmail, and the PlayBook can connect to an existing BlackBerry. He says however, that native support is coming in about 60 days.

"We will have, if you want, a standalone non-web, non-paired email client on it within the next, I believe it was 60 days scheduled."
