File this one under serious rumors, but there are new reports that Research in Motion will push out their first QNX-based phone before the previously rumored Q1 2012 launch. Tweakers.net is now citing several industry sources who claim RIM is rushing their first QNX-based phone to market by the end of 2011. With all the negative pressures on RIM these days this wouldn't be surprising, but the report seems to be seriously lacking in details. What does "industry sources" mean?
The BlackBerry Colt will supposedly sport a 4.3" display and a single-core Qualcomm processor running at 1.2 GHz. That seems fishy in itself because so many phones these days are dual-core.
We'll see what happens, but RIM's next set of devices had better be unbelievable or we'll probably witness the continued decline of the once dominant smartphone company.
