Samsung "not interested" in buying RIM

News - By: SPBlast! Staff - January 18, 2012

RIM's stock surged yesterday after rumors surfaced that the company was in talks to be acquired by Samsung. And why would Samsung be interested in acquiring RIM again? The answer is, they're not! According to Reuters, Samsung is "not interested" in buying RIM and never was. Again, what would Samsung have to gain? Nothing. They could simply license RIM's technology if they wanted to.

"We haven't considered acquiring the firm and are not interested in (buying RIM)," Samsung spokesman James Chung said.

Reuters also says Samsung wasn't even approached by RIM about an acquisition. BGR reported the rumor so this could be one of the rare times that BGR missed it. We'll have to just wait and see to find out.
