According to the Wall Street Journal, RIM co-CEO's Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazardis will relinquish power on Monday, and a little known insider at the company will assume control. Shareholders have been after a reshuffling of the top executives for months, but I don't think anyone guessed that both would step down so suddenly. They have resisted calls for them to resign before, but it seems like they finally saw the reading on the wall.
Although both of them are stepping down, they will remain on RIM's board and will surely have influence as the company's founders.
Stay tuned to see what Wall Street thinks of this move.
