RIM CEO Thorsten Heins has written a letter to the editor of the New York Times, defending his company in the wake of the story claiming some people were embarrassed to own a BlackBerry. Mr. Heins claims BlackBerry is a popular and "growing" platform that people enjoy.
Way to go Thorsten. You may be down, but you're not out yet. BlackBerry users around the world do love their devices and even though the company has been crushed by Apple and Google, they're not completely out of it yet.
With more than 80 million customers globally, BlackBerry is growing and remains one of the world’s most popular smartphones. I’ve just come from visiting carriers and partners in all parts of the world, and they have told me that there are millions of BlackBerry fans out there who not only find great value in their device, but also pride in being a BlackBerry owner.
