Research in Motion has released a 3G version of its BlackBerry PlayBook in the UK in an attempt to refresh interest in the aging tablet. Interestingly, RIM did not release the 4G LTE version that was released in Canada, but opted to go with HSPA+ 3G. It runs on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and includes 32 GB of RAM.
The UK has been a strong market for RIM historically, so it's interesting that they'd present an under powered version of the PlayBook at this point. At a time when Apple has released the iPad mini, and the Nexus 7 tablet is doing quite well, it seems odd that RIM would go this route. I supposed when you don't have BlackBerry 10 ready yet you have to find some way of keeping your name in the news.
Is anyone interested in a 3G PlayBook?
