Research in Motion said Tuesday it has hired two new senior executives, including a marketing chief. Frank Boulben will be the new chief marketing officer and will be responsible for bringing RIM out of the massive marketing hole they are in. Boulben served as executive vice president of strategy and marketing at LightSquared. He previously held senior positions at wireless carriers Vodafone Group and Orange.
RIM also named Kristian Tear as the new chief operating officer. Tear was executive vice president of Sony Mobile Communications, a unit of Sony Corp.
Both LightSquared and Sony have had struggles so Thorsten Heins must see something in these executives beyond recent performance. They have a big job in revamping RIM's image and let's hope they succeed.
