Lenovo is apparently in talks to purchase RIM in an effort to boost its mobile business. According to Bloomberg, Lenovo CFO Wong Wai Ming made the revelation at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.
The has been a lot of speculation about RIM's future, including rumors that RIM would license its OS, or sell its hardware business. If Lenovo stepped up to the plate that could be a fantastic outcome for RIM. At this point, RIM's future is uncertain and Lenovo could definitely provide a bit of certainty.
“We are looking at all opportunities -- RIM and many others,” Chief Financial Officer Wong Wai Ming said today in an interview at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. “We’ll have no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along that could benefit us and shareholders.”
