Thorsten Heins took some questions after the BlackBerry 10 launch today, and he had some good news for BlackBerry PlayBook owners. When asked if the company would upgrade the PlayBook to BlackBerry 10, Mr. Heins indicated all PlayBooks would eventually be upgraded.
When asked about future tablets Mr. Heins seemed to hedge. He said, "the way we look at tablets right now is it is difficult on a cost to profits standpoint so we are still exploring various use cases for it." It sounds like they learned their lesson from the failed PlayBook launch. They really messed up with the supply and it was a dud. With so many iPads, Kindles, and other Android tablets already out there, it's hard to see how BlackBerry has an incentive to launch a new tablet right now.
