The BlackBerry shake up is in full force and new CEO John Chen appears to be making his mark. Three top BlackBerry executives are leaving the company. Chief Operating Officer Kristian Tear, Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben and Chief Financial Officer Brian Bidulka all are leaving BlackBerry. The company announced James Yersh, who was controller and head of compliance, will take over as CFO. No replacements have been named for the other open positions.
It makes sense that a new CEO would shake up the company, and frankly, it's a good thing. The old crew couldn't make it happen so a new crew must be brought in. We'll see if Chen can turn BlackBerry around in the coming months.
“I look forward to working more directly with the talented teams of engineers, and the sales and marketing teams around the world to facilitate the BlackBerry turn-around and to drive innovation,” Chen said in a press release. Departing CFO Bidulka, who worked at BlackBerry for eight years, will remain as a special adviser to assist with the transition for the rest of the company’s fiscal year.
