Edward Snowden's revelation about the NSA's extensive spying could benefit BlackBerry. Ever since the NSA spying allegations became mainstream, governments and private citizens have been looking for a secure way to communicate. Ivor Soans writes at FirstPost that governments around the world are looking at BlackBerry because they are secure from US government hacking. At least, we think they're still secure.
It looks like BlackBerry's focus on security and enterprise could actually pay off. They won't ever be the dominant smartphone player again, but don't count them completely out just yet.
And as most Chief Information Officers will attest, on the mobility front, BlackBerry is the Gold Standard when it comes to security. According to a blog post by George Kesarios, as a result of the NSA revelations, the Apple iPhone will no longer be a device that will handle ‘official correspondence’ in the German government.
