Chinese electronics company Lenovo was very interested in making a bid for BlackBerry, but the Canadian government apparently nixed the deal. According to The Globe and Mail, Lenovo was interested in a deal but BlackBerry was told by the Canadian government that it could not proceed for national security reasons.
BlackBerry is heavily used in military and government throughout North America, and apparently the Canadians were not hot on a Chinese company owning BlackBerry.
