Despite the recent launch of BlackBerry 10, Home Depot has decided to drop BlackBerry for its employees. The decision means about 10,000 employees who now have BlackBerrys will instead start carrying the iPhone 4S. This is a blow to BlackBerry for sure. We’ve seen several large organizations drop BlackBerry over the last couple of years, so that is nothing new. It’s just sad timing for the company who just launched a brand new platform in hopes of getting back into the smartphone game.
Is it the end of the world for BlackBerry? No. BlackBerry is so far down that it doesn't really matter at this point. What matters is that BlackBerry 10 catches on and companies decide it is the best platform for its employees. BlackBerry has a long road ahead and they're off to a good start. We will have to stay tuned to see if BlackBerry 10 will indeed save the company. Right now, BlackBerry is in 4th place just behind Microsoft so they have a long way to go.
