Good news for BlackBerry seems to be easy to find these days. According to BGR, 50% of pre-orders for BlackBerry 10 came from people who do not currently have an BlackBerry. Could they be iPhone and Android users looking to switch?
CIBC analyst Todd Coupland wrote in a note to clients last week, “In Canada 50% of preregistration at the carriers are not currently Blackberry users. This was a surprise and a datapoint that will be watched closely in other regions.”
This is really good news for BlackBerry. Demand for the BlackBerry Z10 is strong so far, and even though the launch didn't blow us away, it may have been enough to keep BlackBerry in the mix. If they can build on BlackBerry 10 they have a shot at turning the company around.
