BlackBerry 10's launch on AT&T was muted to say the least. Several New York City AT&T stores reportedly had little or no BB10 promotional materials out, and employees were not well versed in the differences that BlackBerry 10 offered. According to Barron's, Verizon is handling the launch differently.
Apparently, employees at a Verizon's Manhattan store were trained on the different features of BlackBerry 10 like Balance and Hub, and were able to explain the features to customers. Barron's also reports “the store was not filled with BlackBerry promotional materials, but at the back there was a brightly lit, large sign above a row of smartphones that showed the image of the Z10."
BlackBerry representatives apparently setup displays towards the front of the store to give BB10 more presence.
I'm glad to see BlackBerry and Verizon taking this US launch more seriously now. Even though BlackBerry can do well without the US market, they will be a niche player unless they can convince Americans to jump on board. It's still early in the game for BlackBerry. Let's see where they are a year from now.
