Shares of BlackBerry rose almost 7 percent after CEO Thorsten Heins made favorable comments about BlackBerry 10 demand. Speaking to a Spanish newspaper, Mr. Heins said the company was surprised at the positive response they were getting from customers switching to BlackBerry from other platforms.
“We are receiving a very positive response to BlackBerry 10 from our customers, but it’s also been attractive for customers coming from other platforms,” Heins said in an interview with Expansion. “We are a little surprised by that.”
The rise in shares was the biggest jump in 3 weeks for BBRY.
BlackBerry 10 will arrive in the US in the next couple of weeks, but we won't know its true impact for several months. It looks like BlackBerry 10 is off to a good start. Let's hope the company can build on its early, small success.
