Another BlackBerry acquisition rumor is floating around again. We've heard this rumor before, but it's rearing its head again. News website, benzinga.com, reported Lenovo would make a bid for BlackBerry. It went so far as to say an offer of up to $15 per share could come as soon as this week. Both BlackBerry and Lenovo declined to comment on the rumor.
Rumors of a Lenovo acquisition have been around for a couple of years now. In 2013, it was reported that the Canadian government told BlackBerry the deal would not be approved, and the rumor went away for awhile.
In recent months it has become obvious that BlackBerry CEO John Chen has made significant improvements to the company's turnaround chances, and the most likely scenario is BlackBerry will be acquired at some point. Is Lenovo the company that will end up with BlackBerry?
Shares of BlackBerry were up 3.4 percent Monday on the acquisition rumors.
