The BlackBerry Passport has been out for weeks now and although they have received some press, Apple's iPhone clearly grabbed more of the spotlight. Still, BlackBerry is not holding back and is aiming directly at business users with its Passport. We have read several stories of people actually switching to the Passport from the iPhone. Call them crazy, but the Passport does offer an unusual design that might be crazy enough to work. ZDNet's Sandra Vogel has a very in depth review of the BlackBerry Passport that is worth a read. It is one of the best reviews I've read to date.
Vogel notes the build quality of the BlackBerry Passport is superb and just what you would expect from BlackBerry.
Battery life is important in a high end device, and Vogel says the Passport really shines in this department.
She also lists the keyboard as a PRO, but also notes the large design makes the Passport un-pocketable, and not ideal for one handed use.
Only time will tell if the Passport has enough of what it takes to reverse the company's fortunes. No matter what happens though, the BlackBerry Passport is a high end smartphone from the company who knows how to create high quality, secure, smartphones. The Passport is not for everyone, but it is perfect for the business professional who doesn't need the "bling" of the consumer market.

The BlackBerry Passport's technical specifications are in line with what we'd expect from a high-end smartphone (it's priced almost identically to a SIM-free 16GB Apple iPhone 6). Powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor supported by 3GB of RAM, it's somewhat slow to start up (something we remember from BlackBerry devices of old), but once up and running is smoothly responsive.

Battery life is superb and a real plus point for the Passport. BlackBerry says you'll get up to 24 hours of 3G talk time from the Passport's 3,450mAh battery, 14.5 days on standby, 91 hours of audio playback and 11 hours video playback.
During the test period, our review sample regularly went for two days between charges, losing very little when on standby. On low-usage days we barely drained a quarter of the battery's power.
