BlackBerry has always been known for their stellar security, but those security options were only available on BlackBerry devices. BlackBerry is changing that history today as it offers mobility management and security monitoring to its enterprise platform and extending those options to iOS and Android devices. The company is opening up its platform and that is a huge shift it strategy.
BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.2 software allows iOS and Android devices to be secured with security features previously exclusive to BlackBerry devices. As large corporations and governments shift to other platforms, BlackBerry can still grab a piece of the pie with their BES platform.
Large organizations are also seeing an increase in BYOD (bring your own device) policies. BlackBerry's offering now allows employees to secure their own devices too.

"We had enterprise [managers] telling us that they wanted their BYOD users to be able to play Angry Birds and conduct their own personal business, but only within a dedicated space on their phones," said Jeff Holleran, senior director of enterprise product strategy for BlackBerry. "It needed to be secure and not allow any snooping."
