BlackBerry finally got some great news today. Shares of the company jumped over 4% as a solid second quarter showed losses are narrowing. BlackBerry is now focused on its services more than its hardware even as the release of the BlackBerry Passport has sparked interest in the company again. By all accounts, CEO John Chen seems to be turning the BlackBerry ship around. It will take awhile, but he's headed in the right direction.
BlackBerry reportedly has over 200,000 orders for the new BlackBerry Passport. That's pretty good considering the other options around these days, including the newly released iPhone 6. The company's focus on enterprise services is paying off!
"This is the first time in a long time that we have actually made money on hardware," Chief Executive John Chen told reporters, while hinting at plans to unveil new phones at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2015. "We think we can continue on that track, so hardware is no longer going to be a drag to the margin and the earnings."
